I’ve Tried Everything What Do I Do Next? - How To Get Out Of A Business Rut

I think every entrepreneur has moments where they hit the wall when they feel that they have tried it all. Here we’ll explore a few ways to get your business out of a rut.

  1. Review your plan. This is a simple yet misunderstood step that most business owners miss. Once you review your marketing plan you can see if you missed and action steps or if you need to add anything additional. Do you have a business plan? Do you have a marketing & sales plan?

  2. Try non traditional methods of marketing. You may need to consider the fact that you may not have explored all of your options regarding marketing. Many new business owners use social media as their only source of marketing. While social media may be a great place to find leads for your business. It is only one of many places that should seek to connect with customers. Put yourself in your customers shoes - what do they like to do? What is their lifestyle? What else do they buy? Asking questions like these will help identify inter-sectional places that you can connect with customers.

  3. Reevaluate your social media & website presence. Many “gurus” will tell you that you don’t need a website. The truth of the matter is - that is not true. Every business needs a website for one simple reason, credibility. Trust is a major reason why customers buy or don’t buy. Making sure that your presence online is authoritative and welcoming is a tedious but crucial step we must all take.

  4. Adjust Your Attitude. Sometimes we are actually on the right track and may be a little impatient when it comes to the shot of business. Other times, we have put way too much of ourselves into running business and not enough into recharging.

  5. Re-calibrate Your Schedule. Small business owners have a plethora of things to do everyday. I would recommend that every business owner prioritize marketing and sales as a part of their every day routine and see how much it helps. Sales is the lifeblood of any organization. The most successful organizations have strong sales practices.

  6. Seek Outside Help. If all else fails, hire a professional or seek a trusted friend or mentor. Hiring an intern is a great way to get the help you need and to help a young person get the experience they need to land a full-time job.

This is by no means an all inclusive list but hopefully a good start to get you out your rut.
